Castle Clash Insignia Guide: Empower vs Revitalize vs Survival vs Wicked Armor
Round insignias share most of their names and effects with talents: there’s an Empower talent and an Empower Insignia, a Sacred Light talent and a Sacred Light Insignia, and so on. What differs is which ones top players choose for this slot. Only 13 different insignias appear as any hero’s #1 pick, and four of them account for most of the roster.
The top insignias by hero count
| Insignia | #1 pick for | In top 5 for | Avg. pick rate when #1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Empower Insignia | 47 heroes | 158 heroes | 27.6% |
| Revitalize Insignia | 39 heroes | 159 heroes | 32.0% |
| Survival Insignia | 25 heroes | 112 heroes | 32.8% |
| Sacred Light Insignia | 20 heroes | 153 heroes | 18.4% |
| Wicked Armor Insignia | 18 heroes | 123 heroes | 23.0% |
| Brawler’s Favor Insignia | 17 heroes | 68 heroes | 21.7% |
| Oracle’s Favor Insignia | 11 heroes | 33 heroes | 14.0% |
| Saint’s Favor Insignia | 11 heroes | 45 heroes | 13.7% |
Compare this with talents: Sacred Light is the #2 talent (44 heroes) but only the #4 insignia (20 heroes). Players tend to put the defensive effect on the talent and use the insignia for tempo: energy, a fast opener, or protection.
The big four and when to use each
Empower Insignia: for heroes that need to cast all fight
Effect: +60 energy per second in battle, +80% HP.
Empower is the most common #1 insignia (47 heroes) and is especially popular on supports: it’s #1 for 22 of the 50 support heroes. It pairs with the Sacred Light talent 22 times, the most common talent/insignia pairing in the game.
Strongest users: Flower Fae 45.9%, Sword Sage 44.4%, Serratica 39.3%, Athene 39.2%, Boreal Fox 38.9%, Celestica 38.3%.
Use it when: the hero’s value comes from casting repeatedly over a long fight (team buffs, repeated control, damage that builds up).
Revitalize Insignia: for heroes that need to cast right away
Effect: full energy at the start of battle, +120% ATK for 10s.
Revitalize has the highest average pick rate of the big four when it’s #1 (32.0%). It’s the top insignia for 15 of the 35 crowd control heroes, and it’s heavily used by Legendaries (22 of its 39 #1 slots).
Strongest users: Treantaur 67.3%, Soulsnare Butterfly 57.7%, Minotaur Chieftain 55.6%, Cyclonica 53.9%, Necrofica 52.9%.
Use it when: the first cast decides the fight, for example opening crowd control or a skill that sets up the rest of the hero’s kit (like Necrofica’s Sin Devouring).
Survival Insignia: for heroes that run Revive
Effect: negates all damage for 3s and restores HP equal to 2500% ATK when attacked (7.5s cooldown).
Survival is almost entirely an Epic insignia (23 of its 25 #1 slots), and in 20 of those 25 cases the hero’s talent is Revive. Revive gives extra lives, and Survival makes each life last longer.
Strongest users: Evil Eye 51.1%, Dreadshade 45.1%, Evil Harbinger 44.4%, Infernal Jailer 43.9%, Wraith Binder 43.9%.
Use it when: your hero runs Revive and its kit rewards staying on the field.
Wicked Armor Insignia: for heroes that hit many times
Effect: +150% ATK, reflected damage taken capped at 5,000.
Wicked Armor is #1 for 18 heroes, 14 of them Epics. Every hit a hero lands can trigger the enemy’s reflect effects, so this insignia matters most for heroes whose damage comes as many small hits rather than one big one. Bell Elk Maiden (50.7%) is by far the heaviest user; her domains tick every 0.2 seconds.
Use it when: your hero hits often and keeps dying to reflect.
The niche insignias
- Brawler’s Favor Insignia (attacks deal 1250% ATK, plus 1250% more to one nearby Oracle-faction hero) is a Legendary insignia: 15 of its 17 #1 slots. It’s usually paired with the Sunder talent (8 heroes).
- Oracle’s Favor and Saint’s Favor show up on Elite and Ordinary heroes, where top players have little to work with anyway.
Square insignias: Winged Rebirth dominates
Square insignias are a separate slot. Winged Rebirth is the #1 square insignia for 88 of 208 heroes, including 69 of the 100 Epics.
Effect: revive once with 60% of Max HP, then 8s of invulnerability and +200% ATK and ATK SPD (12s cooldown; it also triggers on revives from other skills).
The last part matters: it triggers on any revive, including the Revive talent. On a Revive-talent hero, each of the two talent revives also gets the invulnerability window and the damage burst.
The main alternatives:
| Square insignia | #1 for | Mostly used by | Effect summary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tyranny | 25 | Legendaries (all 25) | +90% crit rate, +64% crit damage, 16,800 fixed damage on crit |
| Inspire | 22 | Mostly Legendaries | +160% HP, +50% Dodge for 3s when attacked |
| Time Steer | 18 | Legendaries | +225% Max HP, adds 1s to 3 enemies’ skill cooldowns when attacked |
| Blood Barrier | 18 | Legendaries/Elites | 75% damage reduction, chance for condition immunity |
| Chaos Armor | 13 | Epics | +110% HP, 54% damage reduction (−40% ATK on non-Voidwalker heroes) |
Blood Barrier is interesting: it’s #1 for only 18 heroes, but it appears in the top five for 183 of 208, the widest reach of any square insignia. If you have one and don’t know where to put it, it’s rarely a bad choice.
Summary
- Supports and repeat casters: Empower.
- Openers and crowd control: Revitalize.
- Revive-talent Epics: Survival.
- Multi-hit damage dealers: Wicked Armor.
- Square slot on almost any Epic: Winged Rebirth.
- Don’t duplicate a talent and insignia with the same name. Only the higher-level one is active.
